An interesting article about the importance to include your audience as an integral part of your work. Some great examples are reported in the article, such as some of the brilliant Banksy’s graffitis that always surprise you when you discover them and remind you that that’s more to consider on a morning commute than a large latte… and the super clever idea of a flexible business card for a yoga instructor. By continually respecting the intelligence of your audience and leaving a small mental task to be completed, you have connected withthem. Moral of the story: not underestimating the audience, we can all create brilliant and beautiful work. Click here to read the full article.

The award winning design agency Stockholm Design Lab has created a new brand identity for the Swedish pharmacy chain Vårdapoteket. To distinguish and contrast themselves from the often very clinical and barren environments that hospitals make out, SDL developed a new identity inspired by the human body. With a strong and positive color palette and a pattern based on the internal organs of the human body, a strong base for their new identity was created. This graphic language was used in all types of applications; from in-store wallpaper to all sorts of printed material, such as stationery, retail and POS materials.

Following last year’s successful rebrand of Steve Bland as – ‘The Great Blandini – Photoshop retoucher extraordinaire’, Interbrand Australia has produced this Little Book of ‘Photo-shoppe’ Trickery. The brochure features 10 tricks used by the great man himself, plus some custom retouches that show off his unparalleled skills – such as sawing the woman in half. The whole brochure is hand-drawn with a calligraphy pen and ink, yes even the body copy. A rare thing these days and a real labour of love.

The brochure is printed on recycled stock and singer sewn stitched down the spine. To be sent out to Steve’s design industry contacts in 2012 as a keepsake and a powerful demonstration of Blandini’s mastery of the mysterious Photo-shoppe. Designed, written and art directed by Mike Rigby, Jefton Sungkar, Diana Chirillas and Mike Reed.
